Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award

You’re about to start the adventure of a lifetime. The DofE will give you the chance to make a difference, get fit, learn a new skill and get out in the countryside.

You could be doing stuff that’s completely new, or getting better at something you already do. We recognise all the hard work and effort you put in – and give you a valuable Award at the end of it!

It’s a great opportunity and you’ll get out of it what you put in – so make sure you do something you enjoy. As it’s got to be a challenge there’d be no point in it being easy, but keep going and you’ll find yourself having the time of your life!

Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time, so they can be fitted in around academic study, hobbies and social lives. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.

Bronze timescales:

  • Volunteering section: 3 months
  • Physical section: 3 months
  • Skills section: 3 months
  • Expedition section: 2 days/1 night
  • You also have to do 3 more months in one of the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections.
